Purchased new by a WWII vet on his return, and sold to the current owner by the vet's nephew in Anaheim, this is a remarkably clean, almost new looking classic X-braced Gibson from one of Gibson's most prized eras. It was professionally set-up in 2012 with a reset, new slightly larger frets and levelled board, new tuner buttons, reglued brace ends and saddle intelligently converted to "drop in" by cutting the ends, glueing them in, and leaving the main section as a drop-in saddle. There are what appears to be hairline cracks, but they don't show up inside, which is remarkably clean and original. Gibson's are famous for finish checks, and these are probably just that, except one, which is a deep scratch.
The action is great, the neck is round and deep as per typical post-war Gibson. This is a very, alive, clear sounding guitar that still sounds new. It will love being played and given the attention it deserves.
