A Loar-era Master Model in superb condition that's been back to the factory ages ago. They apparently replaced the neck, retaining the original fingerboard, peghead veneer and tuners, but changing the heel to the later rounded style. At the same time the body was refinished. It has the standard birch back & sides of the period, and is signed by Lloyd Loar. It's lighter than the later 20's L-5s, giving it the responsiveness of a flattop, with a gorgeous, sweet tone. The neck is smaller than the original...the main issue with these Loar period L-5s is their humongous neck shapes. The tuners are the original silver-plated, pearl button 3-on-a-plate ones, the fingerboard inlays are the standard dots of the early L-5s with the curleque at the end, the tailpiece is the original early under/over type, and the pickguard is the original shorter variety. There are no cracks, and the guitar plays like a dream.
