David Nichols has been doing the custom inlay work for the Martin factory since 1968. In addition to this contract work, he builds custom guitars in his workshop in northern New York state. He has also served as president of the Association of Stringed Instrument Artisans (ASIA). While his primary building focus has been on flattop guitars, he?s also made a limited number of very high quality archtops. Though influenced by tradition, they are unmistakably originals. This guitar has a 17? lower bout (the standard since the mid-1930s) and features a Florentine cutaway. The sound is rich and full with a broad dynamic range. It?s in fine condition with no cracks.
