CHARGING STALLIONS

This custom Schoenberg is our most adventurous instrument. It is a Soloist Cutaway of Italian spruce and top grade Brazilian rosewood, with a few details added. Notice, in the two photos below, the most interesting feature, a peghead cover, hinged at the top.

The builder is Bruce Sexauer, except for the fingerboard inlays, which were done by Larry Robinson.

Other interesting details are the small horses running around the rosette (below), a grazing donkey (for the owner's wife who's into donkeys as much as her husband is into horses) on the heel cap. The owner, who is a wood worker himself, asked for a thinner top border of abalone than is usual, with rosewood binding. We think it turned out particularly tasteful. Bruce added a special touch of taking the rosewood for the binding from the sides, making a perfect match. There is a very thin maple line next to the binding on the side which now looks like it was inlayed into a solid side. This was not as easy as it looks!
