Product Description
These days, the old-time banjo world has been dominated by a good number of highly skilled makers of banjos that have started from the incredible early American banjo companies and added their own touches. The first of these small makers was the Artur E Smith company, which was Kate Spencer and Mark Surgies. They started in 1979 and made about 600 banjos, this one being their introductory model, quite simple but very solid and effective. The Northampton has a quarter inch brass rod type tone ring and a heavy double truss rod assembly, with two 3/16" steel rods. It comes with a resonator, but needs a fitting to attach it.
