Product Description
Here is a very fine early Tele in very good shape, all original parts, with the finish looking original. Interior body cavity markings are all present and correct for 1956. Neck date is 2/57 which is consistent with others we've seen from late '56. The guitar comes with a digital copy of a photo of the bow-tied original owner with his older brother. The same guitar strap that's in the photo, likely an original issue strap, is in the original tweed case pocket as is the bridge "ash tray" cover plate. The case is weathered and fully functional. Weight is 7.34 lbs. Much of beautiful checking, some minimal staining and appropriate wear/dings. The back of the neck has been oversprayed or refinished.
The telecaster seems to be wired with the original "dark circuit" so the neck pickup is super bassy and the tone control does not effect that pickup's tone. The middle position is quite magical with the mix of big bass and twang/snarl. Back pickup is loud and all tele bite. Pots are 90% un-scratchy and could likely be cleaned to 100%
Small issues to note: Bent high E string tuner, requisite cigarette burn at the low E tuner. Pots appear original as do all interior components. Pot dates are not distinguishable due to solder, though we can see that one ends in "20". Maybe "320". We noted a 1/4" jumper wire was added to the main capacitor, probably as the original lead wire broke and needed to be extended to be re-attached. Very neat work.
