This Maestro Reverb Echo model GA-1RT was made by Gibson in 1961. These amps have two uses and can be used in two ways:
1.To add spring Reverb-Echo to a separate non-reverb 2nd amplifier (Pretty much any amp made before the early '60s). There is a spring reverb tank in the base of the amp. The amp has alligator clips that can be attached to the speaker terminals of a 2nd amp and it then adds Reverb & Echo to the dry sound of the 2nd amp. This is known as "Speaker-Driven Reverb". It's a very cool and original sound effect that was dreamed up in the early 1960's, before companies were building reverb into their amps.
2.You can also use the amp on it's own and it's an awesome little tube monster, very similar to a tweed Fender Champ of the same era, except WITH tremolo, a footswitch, a much larger cabinet, and without the $3k price.
This amp has been serviced and any bad capacitors were changed. All potentiometers etc. were cleaned. You won't have the hassle and expense of trying to get this amp running right. Reverb tank only makes reverb with a two amp set up described above. That's the way it's designed!
